{"id":17860,"date":"2016-07-20T07:51:37","date_gmt":"2016-07-19T21:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=17860"},"modified":"2019-05-18T07:55:52","modified_gmt":"2019-05-17T21:55:52","slug":"the-chunnel-england-to-france-2016-%f0%9f%87%ac%f0%9f%87%a7%f0%9f%87%ab%f0%9f%87%b7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=17860","title":{"rendered":"The Chunnel, England to France 2016 \ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7\ud83c\uddeb\ud83c\uddf7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Travelled : 244 kilometres from Slindon, West Sussex to Montreuil-sur-Mur, France.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited : Just another day on the road and Chunnel Transit \u00a3106<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed : Aire Communal Montreuil-sur-Mur, free but water and electricity \u20ac2 (Wednesday 20th) <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/1mMjEbJXfhC2\">N50.45951 E01.75928<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We have had a busy evening and morning, it&#8217;s the first time we have been hooked up to electricity for almost 2 weeks. &nbsp;So we busily charge up this and that, then in the morning give the Hymer a thorough vacuum and clean. &nbsp;It&#8217;s been a very warm night, so we&#8217;ve had the fan blowing all night. &nbsp;But the washing all dry and folded away and the Hymer is looking neat and tidy as we drive out the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our day is spent driving East on the A27, it&#8217;s a much busier road and as the day passes the traffic gets worse. &nbsp;We do a final UK shop in Hastings and buy a BBQ chicken as it will be a late by the time we stop. &nbsp;Anyway we battle on and arrive at Folkstone an our before our Chunnel departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Folkstone_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Driving onto the train, it&#8217;s all pretty smooth and a well engineered system.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Folkstone_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Driving along through the train until you get to your allocated carriage. Then all the doors close and off you go. We just relax in the Hymer and 35 minutes later we roll out in France.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Montreuil_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>About 90 minutes after driving out of Calais we roll into Montreuil-ser-Mur. It has a nice little Aire (parking spot for motorhomes). &nbsp;On the downside we have paid our first French tollway fee for this trip \u20ac4.50 getting here.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Montreuil_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We have a late walk up town to stretch the legs.
