{"id":16880,"date":"2018-07-11T15:59:13","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T05:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=16880"},"modified":"2019-05-27T07:05:06","modified_gmt":"2019-05-26T21:05:06","slug":"the-chunnel-and-france-2018-%f0%9f%87%ab%f0%9f%87%b7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=16880","title":{"rendered":"The Chunnel and France. 2018 \ud83c\uddeb\ud83c\uddf7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Date: 11th July 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travelled: &nbsp;214 kilometres from Canterbury, England to Villers-Bretonneux, France<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: &nbsp;Sir John Monash Centre car-park, toilet nearby, free. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/cygWzKAHak84EsEN7\">N49.88581, E02.50856<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>A quiet evening in the Canterbury P+R. &nbsp;Cars start rolling into the huge car-park being the aire about 6am. &nbsp;We are in no hurry this morning our train is not scheduled to depart until 6pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have met so many Australian travelling this year and Canterbury P+R continue the trend. &nbsp;We chat to a couple from Brisbane also driving a Hymer, they have just finished 7 months touring selling their Hymer this week and delivery it tomorrow. &nbsp;Later another knock on the door a guy from Sydney who has been touring for several months in his motorhome as well. &nbsp;He is Canterbury to meet his daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway we finally service the Hymer and start the drive to Folkstone and the chunnel station. &nbsp;On arrival we are able to secure a booking on an hour earlier, so we settle down in the car-park with 90 minutes to wait. &nbsp;Another knock on the door this time another Hymer owner comes over for a chat. &nbsp;He is an interesting guy, now travelling by himself. &nbsp;He plans a couple of month in Germany his favourite motorhoming place (and one of ours).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Chunnel_101.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Time passes quickly by&#8230;our letter pops up on the big screen and we are soon driving onto the train.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rolling off the Chunnel Train, Calais\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dujw9uyl6jM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
