{"id":16408,"date":"2017-07-20T20:23:04","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T10:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=16408"},"modified":"2019-05-21T07:57:59","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T21:57:59","slug":"the-chunnel-to-holland-the-netherlands-2017-%f0%9f%87%b3%f0%9f%87%b1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=16408","title":{"rendered":"The Chunnel to Holland, The Netherlands 2017 \ud83c\uddf3\ud83c\uddf1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Travelled: 346 kilometres from Lyminge, England to Schiedam (Rotterdam), The Netherlands<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: The Chunnel \u00a3189, The E40, A10, A14 and E19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: Dedicated motorhome parking on the canal in the Schiedam district of Rotterdam, \u20ac7 per day. <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/DjboqF5gURpsTYyt8\">N51.91949 E04.39384<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>A short drive to the Chunnel station at Folkstone, the system is seamless. &nbsp;However for the first time we note the French Border Post is staffed and they check and formally stamp our passports. &nbsp;We have crossed several times and it&#8217;s a first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Chunnel_11.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Rolling onto the train behind a Tesla coupe, great love travelling under the English Channel behind 700kg of lithium batteries ! I suppose its an each-way bet, he is in front of a Fiat that was leaking diesel like a sieve only a few hours ago.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving onto the train at 10.40 am, we roll off at 12.25 French time (move the clock foward an hour). &nbsp;We drive the rest of the day on the wrong side of the road, through France for a short while, Belgium for a few hours and then into the Netherlands. &nbsp;The roads are amazing but the weather keeps me on my toes and Pam on edge. &nbsp;It drizzles or rains 10-15 minutes every half hour until we reach Rotterdam. &nbsp;The Hymer is running perfectly, no leaks or even the faintest smell of diesel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Its been a long day, we head for the Schiedam as it was one of our favorite spots last year. &nbsp;On one of the canals, with a lovely view, there is a tasty little turkish takeaway place nearby for dinner&#8230;.we are done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Schiedam_10.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Our spot for the night.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael and Pam<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Travelled: 346 kilometres from Lyminge, England to Schiedam (Rotterdam), The Netherlands Visited: The Chunnel \u00a3189, The E40, A10, A14 and E19 Stayed: Dedicated motorhome parking on the canal in the Schiedam district of Rotterdam, \u20ac7 per day.
