The sun rises at 6 am but no one seem to show there face until 8 am. The sun sets at 10 pm and it isn’t really dark for another 20 minutes or so and everyone’s still up and running around. As everything except cafés and bars close from 12.30 till 2 pm why not. It has rained both morning and afternoon during our two days in Dinan, other than that the sun appears and disappears. It’s a public holiday and we have a nice spot in Dinan.

We are a bit concerned it may be traffic nightmare out there on the other hand the weather looks like rain all day. We make a coffee and make the decision to hit the road. It’s a leisurely drive north once we hit the D road, there very little traffic and we amble northward. The coast on our right, we stop for morning tea at Binic. It’s a post card type of a French port/village. A pretty marina, lots of expensive looking boats, little shops etc. We make a coffee, buy a desert for dinner tonight, a baguette for lunch and continue on our way. Twenty kilometres later we drive into Paimpol. There are 4 aires in town, they are all very busy. But we have spotted a dozen or so camper cars parked at the end of a huge carpark near the railway station, so why not.

The quay in Paimpol.

The cobbled streets of Paimpol, Brittany.

The Rough Guide has the steam train from Paimpol to Pantrioux as the most picturesque train journey in Brittany. So as w’ere in their car park, why not. After settling in we walk up to the ticket office and book for tomorrow’s train. The €49 throws the budget out, looks like Pam’s on the cask rose for the rest of the week. After a little rest and coffee we head off to explore, buy some prawns for dinner and perhaps a drink.

<img decoding="async" src="https://michaelandpamstravels.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/image56-1024x768.jpg" alt="€4.70 for a half pint of 1664 and a glass of rose !
