Region of Veneto, Italy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: &nbsp;Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: &nbsp;Peschiera del Garda, Sosta \u20ac18, all sevices. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/6fZLpY6uZZEkTGet5\">N45.43982, E10.68469<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Budget: &nbsp;116 days @ \u20ac91 per day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another quiet night. &nbsp;Yesterday\u2019s wind continued overnight and it was a doona morning so we put the heater on for an hour. &nbsp;Looking out the window, the motorhome waiting at the gate last night, is still there this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have our coffee and fruit, before packing up to depart. &nbsp;Whilst we could easily enjoy the morning taking another walk around Riva del Garda, there is more to see and do at the southern end of Lake Garda. &nbsp;Hopefully we may find a sosta that\u2019s not so tightly packed &nbsp;as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Garda_11.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>From Riva we head south along the lake. &nbsp;According to the GPS the SS45B on the western side is the fastest route (lot\u2019s of tunnels). &nbsp;However we take the more scenic SR249 on the eastern side of Lake Garda.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Garda_12.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>No traffic takes away the pressure&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Garda_13.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Lots of nice houses line the road. Pastel colours the theme. &nbsp;The traffic quickly builds what should be an hour to Peschiera del Garda is almost two.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Garda_14.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>It\u2019s a slow drive, the road narrows suddenly here and there and the round-a-bouts all bank up.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Garda_15.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We arrive at the sosta in Peschiera del Garda a little frazzled due to the traffic. &nbsp;We find a spot and settle in. &nbsp;The sosta is big and roomy, probably one of the best we have stayed in. &nbsp;No views but good facilities and handy to the lower shore of Garda by bicycle or scooter. Our neighbour has a cat on a long lead, which indicates he is a bit odd.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>After a calm me down coffee and relax we roll the scooter off the Hymer and make our way to neighbouring town of Sirmione. About 10 kms as the scooter rolls.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Sirmione is a lovely town, frankly a little touristy but a nice walk all the same.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1140\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NPuR4IQXd3w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>In the back streets away from the gelato bars, we find the Church de Santa Maria Maggiore. &nbsp;Circa 14th century.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>Inside the church, this little chapel along side the altar caught our interest.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_8.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There are some interesting remains of frescos in places.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>Another&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_10.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We walk to the far end of the peninsula, the views across Garda are worth a minute or two of our time.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_11.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The Grotte di Catullo is all that remains<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We stop in a small piazza, sharing a fairly ordinary pizza for lunch over a glass of wine and a beer. &nbsp;Luckily the view was nice and we were well away from the crowds and their dripping gelatos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Sirmione_14.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Suddenly we caught a glimpse of a couple of celebrities walking by. &nbsp;Definately one of the Rolling Stones I thought.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Our afternoon is Sirmione complete we walk back to the scooter and ride back to the Sosta in Peschiera del Garda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We start our second day in Peschiera del Garda with a walk. &nbsp;From the sosta we make our way to the waterfront and walk along the promenade to town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Another beautiful day on Garda.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_4.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A small marina and ferry terminal mark the start of&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Helvetica;\">Peschiera del Garda.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"825\" height=\"1100\"\/><figcaption>A very noble memorial to the fallen.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_5-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Some part of the old city ramparts remain. &nbsp;The flowers set the scene.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Peschiera del Garda has a network of canals surrounding it\u2019s historic centro.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_7.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>On the piazza Savola stands the Church of San Martino Vescovo, the series of garages without doors are the roman ruins.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_9.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>I know your sick of churches, but here is a picture of the main altar anyway.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_del_Garda_11.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>It seems every Italian town has some Roman ruins. &nbsp;According to the story board the village of Peschiera dates back to 1,400bc as an iron age settlement. &nbsp;But these ruins are dated 100bc.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Peschiera_21.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>It\u2019s been a long walk. Pam goes into every shop for a quick browse. There are a lot of shops.
