{"id":14558,"date":"2018-09-23T06:59:32","date_gmt":"2018-09-23T06:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=14558"},"modified":"2019-05-28T17:51:11","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T07:51:11","slug":"cinque-torri-italy-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=14558","title":{"rendered":"Cinque Torri, Italy 2018 \ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Date: &nbsp;22st September 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travelled: &nbsp;39 kms from Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo in Veneto to Arabba in Trento, Italy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: &nbsp;The Cinque Torri and the Dolomites.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: &nbsp;Arabba, free sosta, with services. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/tkKaGRPBaCNHGfZZ6\">N46.49700, E11.87705<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Budget: &nbsp;111 days @ \u20ac92 per day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a quiet evening in Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo. &nbsp;We chatted with our German neighbour for a while. &nbsp;His Hymer the same year as ours but a slightly different model. &nbsp;He was a lovely old fellow with excellent english. &nbsp;Having had his Hymer since new, he told me they don\u2019t travel as far as they used too. &nbsp;Mostly trips into the mountains of Austria, Italy and German he tells me. &nbsp;He tells me his Hymer is like him getting a bit old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway we wake to a change in the weather. &nbsp;The mountains surrounding Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo are now shrouded in cloud. &nbsp;We had hope to take the Col Druscie gondola (3,200m) this morning. &nbsp;The situation hasn\u2019t changed by the time we finish breakfast, so we decide on a walk up to the gondola station to check the weather on top. &nbsp;Whilst we enjoyed the walk around town the girl at the gondola station tells us, it\u2019s a white out up top and the forecast is more of the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So back to the Hymer we pack up, say goodbye to our neighbour and set the GPS for Cinque Torri (5 Peaks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Cinque_Torri_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Departing Cortina d\u2019Ampezzo the road climbs steeply for the next 10 klms.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Cinque_Torri_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>There\u2019s the odd challenge as well.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Cinque_Torri_3.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We find the right car-park and chairlift (no signs). About 5 klms looping around the mountain back to the car-park. The going is a little steep and slow in parts and it takes us about 2 hours to get down.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Arabba_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>From the car-park in Cirque Torri, we drive on to the village of Arabba. &nbsp;Whilst its not that far the road is steep and winding, so it\u2019s almost an hour to the sosta. &nbsp;Best of all the pay machine is taped up and our overnight stay with services is free.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After today\u2019s long mountain walk, we decide on dinner out. &nbsp;Walking up town we stop at a restuarant and decide we have walked far enough.
