Toilet + bin. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/vKqk9UpUCn99564k6\">N42.77800, E12.40065<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Budget: &nbsp;96 days @ \u20ac95 per day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After getting our vowels muddled yesterday, we enjoyed a quiet night in Sovana. &nbsp;We shared the car-park with a Swiss motorhome that weren\u2019t very friendly (probably something to do with Millman giving Roger a flogging the day before) and two young woman sleeping in a Ford Fiesta, good luck to that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We make a bit of an early start. &nbsp;The sign says \u2018Paid Parking\u2019 after 8am, but just to avoid a nasty council officer we are on our way by 9am. &nbsp;Not far however just down the hill about 2 klms to the Parco Archeological \u2018Citta del Tufa\u2019 car-park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Citta_del_Tufa_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>We have breakfast in the car-park waiting for the 10am opening time. &nbsp;Go and pay a very uninterested young woman \u20ac5pp and go for a walk.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Citta_del_Tufa_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Why are we visiting Etruscan ruins and tombs I here you say. &nbsp;Well the Etruscans dominated central Italy for 400 year, basicaly till they we absorbed into the Roman Empire. &nbsp;Like this once magnificient statue of a lion, they just eroded away.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Citta_del_Tufa_9.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Just in case, you get lost. &nbsp;The site here is spread over a large area, but essentially it involves walking 3 separate paths along the ridge and canyon. &nbsp;There\u2019s probably an hours walking and 45 minutes of taking in the various tombs you find.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Citta_del_Tufa_6.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Inside one of the tombs. &nbsp;Whilst the tombs at Tarquinia where deep underground, hence better preserved, the tombs at Sovana are much easier to access, mostly looted back in roman times according to the blurb.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" so ?<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in the Hymer again, arguing over which tomb was best, we have a coffee before travelling on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Road_Italy_17.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>A lovely grove of roadside trees mark the way to Orvieto.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst Orvieto looks grand sitting on a large hill-top, we have set our sights further up the road today. &nbsp;But we stop at the Lidl and have lunch in the car-park before continuing on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Road_Italy_18.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Another hill-side village, with a name we cannot remember.
