Our time in Canada on this trip has finished as we ride southeastward on Amtrack’s Maple Leaf Express. We have been staying with Aunty Leila in St.Catharines, about 15 minutes on the freeway from Niagara. St.Catharines is a large sprawling town. Pam and I have walked an hour each morning in a different direction and it still continues on. The people are very friendly, but seem to think walking about in shorts, a bit odd.<\/p>\n

While Niagara Falls is the main attraction in the area, it’s an easy drive on the freeway to Toronto and we took the opportunity to spend a day there as well. The highlight being a trip up the top of the CN Tower and a great coffee and pizza near the Sky Dome.<\/p>\n

On our second visit to Niagara-On-The-Lake we rented a couple of very upmarket push bikes and headed off along the Niagara River. Mostly flat the cycle way follows the river for almost 10 miles to the Niagara Escarpment. Even better the tail wind picked up on our way back ! Stopping at a little roadside stall we had a great sandwich and some fruit before cruising back into town.<\/p>\n

One of the real highlights was dinner at the revolving Restaurant above Niagara Tower. With fabulous views of the falls in the late afternoon, catching the sunset, then the falls again at night with their colored lights. Anyway we have really enjoyed our stay, watching the squirrels run along the power lines (and everything else) much to the annoyance of Leila. It appears she has lost a pet squirrel called vermin as she constantly calls out whenever she sees one. Love Michael and Pam XXX<\/p>\n\n
