{"id":12170,"date":"2018-07-25T12:05:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T12:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=12170"},"modified":"2019-05-27T12:31:51","modified_gmt":"2019-05-27T02:31:51","slug":"cinque-terre-italy-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=12170","title":{"rendered":"Cinque Terre, Italy 2018 \ud83c\uddee\ud83c\uddf9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Date: &nbsp;24th July 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travelled: &nbsp;By train from Deiva Marina to the Cirque Terre villages, \u20ac20pp<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: &nbsp;Cinque Terre.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: &nbsp;Camping Deiva Marina, \u20ac33 pn. &nbsp;All facilities. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/UX8f1SkBxddusPJS9\">N44.21471, E09.51933<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campsites are not usually our thing, but the overly friendly manager at Camping Deiva Marina offered us a choice of 3 different sites, surprising we decided on the one with the most shade. &nbsp;By the time we arrived it was very hot and humid so the opportunity to escape the sun was appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we settle in for the evening. &nbsp;The BBQ comes out along with the awning. &nbsp;After dinner the air-conditioning goes on, within half an hour the Hymer is noticable cooler. &nbsp;Whilst our little A\/C is a bit noisy it does ensure a good nights sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>We get ourselves up for a coffee and get the day started. &nbsp;Our plan for today is to visit the 5 seacliff villages known as the Cinque Terre. &nbsp;There was a walking path that allowed visitors to walk between the villages, but following a landslip that route is closed. &nbsp;So train is the only option, hence our stay in Deiva Marine. &nbsp;Its railway station is only a five minute walk from our campsite. &nbsp;To get on and off at the various Cinque Terre stations you must purchase a special ticket, which in true tourist trap fashion costs four times more than a standard section ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Monterosso the most western of the villages is our first stop.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Stepping off the train the first thing we see is Monterosso\u2019s tourist beach.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"\/><figcaption>If your planning a swim at Monterosso\u2019s beach, bring your wallet.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"\/><figcaption>So we start our walk up through the village.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_5-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"\/><figcaption>As we walk the vendors are still filling the laneways with tourist stuff.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"\/><figcaption>Very difficult to get a half descent photo in such an enclosed space, but this is the Church of John the Baptist, circa 1244.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_7.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>The plain exterior of the church is not reflected inside. Looking forward to the alter. &nbsp;Said to be in the Ligurian Gothic style, but I\u2019m not sure exactly what that means.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Monterosso_8.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>So we have reached the end of Monterosso. Whilst the streets up near the station are full of tourist tat.
