{"id":11727,"date":"2018-07-08T06:44:12","date_gmt":"2018-07-07T20:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=11727"},"modified":"2020-07-17T13:43:54","modified_gmt":"2020-07-17T03:43:54","slug":"heading-for-the-chunnel-england-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/?p=11727","title":{"rendered":"Sightseeing the A12, England 2018 \ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Date: &nbsp;8th July 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travelled: &nbsp;129 kilometres from Cantley (Reedcutter) to Ipswich, England<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visited: &#8230; Driving the A12<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stayed: &nbsp;Burnt House Farm, Witnesham. \u00a39 include power and the usual. &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/WMNfdPJYXh7W1Ky59\">N52.11441, E01.20226<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bit of a late start this morning at the Reedcutter. &nbsp;We decide on a walk along the River Yare, this takes an hour. &nbsp;It\u2019s a pleasant walk but there is little to see, just some grouse running through ahead of us and the odd boat passing by before return to the Hymer for breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We do the usual servicing, say goodbye to Michael and Iris and make our way back to the A47 for Great Yarmouth. &nbsp;The traffic is very heavy for a Sunday morning with lots of stop starts. &nbsp;Turning south on the A12 the traffic thins but its still slow going. &nbsp;There seems to be a round-a-bout every mile or so, which means wrestle the Hymer around and going through the gears again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stopping for lunch near Woodbridge. &nbsp;We have been on the road for over a month now and probably a day ahead of where we need to be, to comfortably make the chunnel on Wednesday. &nbsp;The thought of a house keeping day has Pam excited. &nbsp;We go through our data base over lunch looking for a park with power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burnt House Farm looks reasonable, so we decide to have a look. &nbsp;But first we need to do some shopping at John Lewis (UK version of David Jones) so we head into Ipswich. &nbsp;Our beloved DeLonghi coffee machine started leaking water last year and is slowly getting worse. &nbsp;We cannot complain after five years of bouncing around the back of the Hymer all over Europe. &nbsp;So \u00a3170 later we have a new machine. &nbsp;We also purchase a small fan that runs off a USB connection at \u00a310 its worth a try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Our stop is only 5 miles away so we make our way to Witnesham, finding Burnt House Farm easily enough. &nbsp;It\u2019s a farm stay, with everything we need. &nbsp;So we settle in, have a drink as the shadows lengthen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/michaelandpamstravels.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Burnt_House_1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Catching some late afternoon shade at Burnt House farm stay.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael and Pam<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"bpp_credits\" style=\"clear: both; float: right; width: 200px; height: 70px; text-align: right;\"><a style=\"text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blogpadpro.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"vertical-align: middle; font-size: 8pt; color: #999;\">Edited with BlogPad Pro<\/span><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align: middle; padding-left: 5px;\" src=\"http:\/\/files.blogpadpro.com\/images\/speech-bubble.png\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\"><\/figure><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Date: &nbsp;8th July 2018 Travelled: &nbsp;129 kilometres from Cantley (Reedcutter) to Ipswich, England Visited: &#8230; Driving the A12 Stayed: &nbsp;Burnt House Farm, Witnesham. \u00a39 include power and the usual. &nbsp;N52.11441, E01.20226 A bit of a late start this morning at the Reedcutter. &nbsp;We decide on a walk along the River Yare, this takes an hour.
