Michael and Pam's Travels Our European Motorhome Adventures and other Travels

Denmark ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฐ to Sweden ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช by Ferry 2017

Travelled: 36 kilometres by road and 94 kilometres by ferry from Flauenskjold in Denmark to Molnlycke in Sweden.

Visited: Gunnebo Slott, free.

Stayed: Notasberget camping and parking area (on the lake) near Molnlycke, free, bin and toilet. N57.66252 E12.05833

Looking at my note book, we have added more than 3,500 kilometres to the Hymer’s odometer so far this trip.

We have an early start so the alarm rings at 6 am, our ferry departs at 8.15.  I take the opportunity to service the Hymer and have a coffee before we leave Notasberget.  Arriving at the terminal by 7.15 we have plenty of time.  There is the usual ferry check-in all done from the Hymer passenger seat (Pam gets these jobs), we quote our booking number, get allocated a row and an instruction note and sticker regarding our LPG system.

Once we park in lane 5 behind a van, we can relax.  Pam cuts some fruit, I make the toast.  Camper-car breakfast in the queue !

Just a quick photo or the toast will burn.
We say goodbye to Denmark for now, hopefully we will be back in 5-6 weeks.
Hello Sweden ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ช or Goteborg to be more specific. We called it Gothenburg only to be corrected it’s ‘Goteborg’.  A wind turbine just means your power bills go up whether your in Denmark, Sweden or Australia.
The ramp comes down. Unfortunately the driver of the third vehicle in our queue, didn’t come down to move his van, so we all just sat there. Until some smarty driving a Hymer does a quick 3 point exit out of the line and makes for the ramp.

Its only 12 and it’s been a long day already, so we set the GPS for a free spot out of town near a lake to have lunch, catch our breath and plan Goteborg.

Reading the information board we find that one of Sweden most stately homes is open to the public on the hill behind us. So Gunnebo Slott (Chateau) sounds like an interesting walk.
Built in the late 18th century in the baroque style. It is constructed largely from timber, rather than brick or stone.
The formal entry and gardens of Gunnebo.
I cannot see why the front of Kooringal cannot look like this with a little more effort from Jim and Denice.
Off to one side of the Chateau is the hot house and vegetable gardens.
There are also large areas of flower ๐ŸŒบ beds.

After wandering the estate for an hour, we continue our wandering by following a path around the lake. Interesting what you find.
The walk around lake (Stensjon) has a number of small timber bridges here and there, its a lovely place.  Its only 15 minutes from central Goteborg !

So we will spend the night here on the lake, with several other motorhomes and look forward to visiting Goteborg tomorrow.
