Dinan, Brittany. 2014 ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

Travelled : 210 miles to Dinan

Visited : Cherbourg, Dinan, Brittany

Stay : Dinan municipal campsite, โ‚ฌ15 with power and services

Up early for a walk and some fruit for breakfast. ย We make the decision to drive up to Cherbourg for a look see. ย Apart from that the living area air conditioner in the Hymer did not seem to be running properly and there’s a Dometic agent there so off we go. ย Long story short the agent has gone on holidays. Bugger ! We spend the morning driving around looking at the sights, have a coffee and then continue on to Dinan.

Known for its narrow lanes, cobbled street and half wooden house, I think I have captured all three. Dinan, Brittany, France. 2014

Whilst visiting Mont Saint Michel in 2013 we bumped into an Australian couple who were staying in Dinan. They raved about it, as does the Rough Guide. Anyway the GPS has us at the campsite at 2 pm. We settle into a lovely little spot under some trees and start chatting with an English couple in the camper car next to ours. It’s the first time Pam and I have chatted to anyone but ourselves for four days, so it a nice change.

I jump back on google and find there’s a Dometic Agent in Dinan as well (bugger again). ย We chat in broken French come English and we have an appointment tomorrow. ย Post script he re-gases it and all seems good.

Wonderful views of the viaduct and old Port of Dinan on the canal from the walls of the old city, Brittany, France. 2014
From the walls of the old city,  some wonderful views of the viaduct over the canal and the old port of Dinan.

Dinan is an ancient town fortified on a hill, cobble streets, stone walls, lovely parks, bike tracks, narrow lanes and little bars and restuarants. I’ll let the pictures tell the story. Tomorrow’s a public holiday in France and we may stay a third day as it’s so nice here.
